Fascism slow but relentless march…

Fiat money is predicated on perpetually expanding credit markets. However, debt conforms to the law of diminishing marginal utility so that you always need more debt in order to obtain the same result. The desired result of course is GDP expansion which is perceived as the single most important metric upon which numerous other socio/economic statistics are calculated. But as common tools to induce credit expansion lose traction (i.e. manipulating interest rates lower), the authorities must gradually intervene in ever creative ways in order to maintain the appearance of GDP expansion. But just like interest rates, even government intervention is subject to the law of diminishing marginal utility so that government must perforce widen the scope and increase the depth of intervention.

In other words. Due to the natural decreasing effectiveness of intervention, it is inevitable that government gradually becomes the largest actor in the economy.

It follows that as policy effectiveness wanes, government must necessarily become ever more intrusive and restrictive of, amongst other things, personal liberties.

A few days ago I heard a rumor that said that US citizens were now required to submit air travel plans to the Dept. of Homeland Security 72 hours prior to departure.

Surely, I thought, if this were the case, the media and professional associations such as travel agents and/or tour operators would be up in arms?? But since nobody was and nobody is (yet) I thought surely this was a hoax.

Little did I know.

I’ve just had it confirmed from a tour operator that usually sends large numbers of tourists to the USA that, in fact, as of 1st of November 2010 that is exactly the case!!!

Where is the media? Where is the scandal?

We are now down to asking permission to fly somewhere??? Is this what the “home of the free” has been reduced to?

I am asking the question in rhetorical fashion of course. If you understand the fiat monetary logic, then you understand this is but the inevitable ramification.

Still. I find it surprising that nobody seems to be too bothered by the fact that our movements are now subject to advance notice and permission from the authorities before they ascertain even a modest degree of suspicion.

I mean; what happened to innocent till proven guilty? This new regulation just subverted the essence of that concept. Now we’re all guilty till proven innocent.

Does this not bother anyone?
